Hand to Heart offers a range of HSE-approved first aid training courses that meet and exceed the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act. We offer these courses in our comfortable training centre in Warsash, or our trainers can come to you and train your staff on site (subject to a suitable space being available). We have experience of delivering training to Schools, Colleges, Care Homes, Community Groups, the Marine Industry, emergency services, voluntary organisations, and general commercial entities, both at home and abroad.

Meet The Team

Ian Fiddaman

Ian is an accomplished commercial skipper and instructor with a successful track record skippering, training and providing medical cover in a wide variety of international arenas. His roles over the past 30 years have varied from National & International sailing regattas in either a SAR, safety or media role to deploying for inland flooding, Senior Helmsman of Haying Lifeboat, Coastguard Rescue officer, NHS Community Responder & Safety officer on the Extreme Sailing Series. Ian has extensive experience in instructing overseas on behalf of the Home Office as part of Foreign aid programs. He’s a well-versed and experienced instructor who can draw on a wide range of experience in medical emergencies ashore and afloat.

Richard Hawes

Richard began his career in care as a nurse over 30 years ago, and in recent years, he has concentrated on quality assurance and care improvement. Richard has worked with Barchester Healthcare, Caring Homes and the Orders of St John Care Trust. As the Chief Executive of Elizabeth Finn Homes Limited, he was responsible for the continuous improvement in the services offered to the residents. Richard has also been a trustee of the charity Care Rights UK since 2019. Richard brings a unique range of skills in instructing within the first aid framework, as well as decades of experience in the health care sector as a Registered Nurse. He has experience on the water as an RYA First Aid and Advanced Instructor, as a safety officer for adventurous activities, and as a first aid support for overland events.
